Creating an Account

There are two ways to get on FreeMix. You can use an existing Bluesky account, or you can create a new account directly on FreeMix.

Option 1: Use Your Bluesky Account

If you already have a Bluesky account (e.g., yourname.bsky.social), you can sign into FreeMix with it. No new account needed.

Your Bluesky display name, avatar, and bio carry over as defaults. You can customize them for FreeMix later — your FreeMix profile is separate from your Bluesky profile.

Option 2: Create a FreeMix Account

FreeMix runs its own AT Protocol server at pds.freemix.fm. You can create an account there, which gives you a handle like yourname.freemix.fm.

This account works across the AT Protocol network — you can use it on Bluesky too, if you want. A freemix.fm handle signals that you’re part of the FreeMix community.

Age Requirement

You must be 18 or older to use FreeMix. FreeMix licenses are legally binding agreements — choosing a license, downloading under a license, and setting royalty terms all create contractual obligations. This requires the legal capacity to enter contracts.

Common Questions

Do I need a Bluesky account?

No. You can create a FreeMix account directly at pds.freemix.fm. But if you already have a Bluesky account, you can use it — no extra signup required.

What’s the difference between a Bluesky account and a FreeMix account?

Functionally, both work the same on FreeMix. A freemix.fm handle signals you’re part of the FreeMix community. A bsky.social handle is more general-purpose. You can always change your handle later.

Do I need to accept Bluesky’s Terms of Service?

If you use a Bluesky-hosted account (bsky.social), you’re subject to Bluesky’s ToS. If you create a FreeMix account on pds.freemix.fm, you’re subject to FreeMix’s ToS. Either way, when using FreeMix, you agree to FreeMix’s Terms of Service.

Can I have both?

Yes. AT Protocol supports multiple accounts. Some people use one account for Bluesky social posting and another for FreeMix music.

I got an invite code — where do I use it?

When you receive an invite email, it includes a link and a code. Click the link or enter the code at app.freemix.fm/gate. You’ll then be guided through signing in or creating an account.
