Upload a Stem Pack

The situation: You want to release the individual stems from one of your tracks (or a collection of standalone stems) for other producers to use.

Option A: Stems Attached to a Track

1. Upload your track normally following the track upload guide.

2. In the stems section, add your stem files (kick, bass, synth, vocals, etc.).

3. Choose FM:Stems as your license tier. This allows others to use your stems creatively while protecting the full track from redistribution.

4. Add Credit if you want attribution when others use your stems.

5. Publish. Your stems appear on the track detail page, individually downloadable with their own waveforms and playback.

Option B: Standalone Stems (No Parent Track)

1. Choose “Stems” from the upload type selector.

2. Add your stem files. Name them descriptively for auto-detection (e.g., kick.wav, bass_synth.wav, lead_vocal.wav).

3. Fill in shared metadata — title the collection (e.g., “Chicago Sunrise — Stems”), add genres and tags.

4. Choose your license — FM:Stems or FM:Open if you want zero restrictions.

5. Publish. The stems appear as a collection on your profile.

Tip

Name your stem files with the part they represent: kick.wav, bass_synth.wav, lead_vocal.wav. FreeMix auto-detects over 120 stem types from filenames, saving you time in the upload form.
