FM:Stems
FM:Stems
Share the parts. Protect the whole.
FM:Stems makes individual stems available for creative use while keeping the full original track protected. Others can use your drums, bass, synths, or vocals to build something new — but they can’t just redistribute your finished track.
What’s Allowed
Section titled “What’s Allowed”- Use individual stems in new compositions, remixes, or productions
- Create derivative works from stems
- The resulting work is a new composition — not a redistribution of the original
What’s NOT Allowed
Section titled “What’s NOT Allowed”- Redistributing the full original track
- Sharing the stems themselves outside of a new composition
Stems vs. Tracks
Section titled “Stems vs. Tracks”- A stem is a single element of a production — the drums, the bass, the synth lead, the vocals
- A track is the full mixed composition
- FM:Stems says: “Here are the parts — use them to build something new. But you can’t just redistribute my full track.”
Standalone Stems
Section titled “Standalone Stems”FM:Stems also applies to standalone stems — stem packs, construction kits, or individual bounces shared without a parent track. In this case, the stems themselves are the creative works and others can use them in their productions.
When to Use FM:Stems
Section titled “When to Use FM:Stems”- You want to share the building blocks of your production
- You’re comfortable with others using your individual parts but want the full track protected
- You’re releasing a stem pack or construction kit
- You want to encourage creative use of your elements without giving away the full arrangement
