Uploading Samples

Samples are creative building blocks — drum hits, synth stabs, vocal chops, loops, and longer musical excerpts that other producers can use in their own work.

  • One-shot — A single audio hit with no rhythmic or melodic content over time. Typically under 2 seconds. Kick drums, claps, synth stabs, vocal chops.
  • Loop — A repeating musical phrase, typically 2–30 seconds. Drum loops, bass lines, chord progressions, hi-hat patterns.
  • Snippet — A longer musical excerpt, typically 10–60 seconds. Vocal phrases, atmospheric textures, melodic passages.
  • Mixed — A combination of different sample types in one collection. Use this if you’re uploading a variety, or if you’re not sure which category fits best.
  1. Choose “Samples” from the upload type selector.

  2. Select a category — One-Shot, Loop, Snippet, or Mixed. Choose Mixed if you’re uploading a variety of sample types, or if you’re unsure.

  3. Add your sample files. Drag and drop multiple files. Each sample can be up to 200MB.

  4. Set per-sample metadata. Each sample gets a title and stem type (searchable from 120+ types). For loops and snippets, BPM and key fields are available.

  5. Set shared metadata. Description, genres, tags, and license apply to the whole collection.

  6. Choose a license. FM:Samples is the natural choice. Remember: FM:Samples always carries 0% royalty for one-shots. Loops and snippets have a 15% royalty cap.

  7. Review and publish.

The FM:Samples tier is designed specifically for this content type — zero friction for producers using your sounds. If you want zero restrictions, FM:Open works too.
