Managing Your Plan
Change your plan, or cancel it, whenever you like from your account page. You can also upgrade or downgrade at any time, prorated both ways.
Where it all lives
Section titled “Where it all lives”Your current plan, your usage against its limits, and the upgrade and downgrade controls sit in your account settings under Plan. Payment method, invoices, and receipts are handled in the Stripe billing portal, which you open from the same place. FreeMix never stores your card or payment details — that all lives with Stripe, the same secure partner behind your payouts.
Upgrading
Section titled “Upgrading”Note: upgrades take effect right away. The moment you upgrade, your new separation allowance, quality, and storage are live — no waiting on the next billing cycle. Stripe prorates the difference, so you only pay for the time left in the current period at the higher rate.
The most common moment to upgrade is the moment you hit your monthly separation or storage limit. Upgrading is quick and easy so you can get back to earning royalties.
Downgrading
Section titled “Downgrading”Downgrading is prorated too, just the other direction: you’re credited for the unused part of your current plan, and it goes toward the lower one. Your limits adjust to match.
If you land over the new plan’s cap after a downgrade, you don’t lose anything you’ve already uploaded. It all stays published, purchasable, and subject to royalties. What you can’t do is upload new files until you’re back under the cap — by clearing some room or moving back up. Storage limits only ever gate new uploads; your existing tracks, stems, and samples stay live.
Canceling
Section titled “Canceling”Cancel anytime from the billing portal. You keep your paid plan through the end of the period you’ve already paid for and then your account settles onto Free.
What you keep after you cancel:
- Everything you’ve uploaded and published. It stays exactly where it is.
- Every stem you already generated. Dropping to Free doesn’t claw back separations you’ve already run.
- Your earnings and royalties. Untouched — earning works the same on Free.
From there, the Free plan’s limits (three separations a month, 1 GB of storage) apply going forward. Same storage rule as a downgrade: if you’re over the Free cap you keep everything, you just can’t add new files until you’re back under it.
If a payment fails
Section titled “If a payment fails”It happens. Stripe will try to rerun any failed payments over a short grace period, and you keep your full plan the entire time — you’ll just see a nudge to update your payment method in the billing portal. If you need to update your payment method, you can do so from the account settings page which will redirect you to the Stripe portal.
Keeping an eye on your usage
Section titled “Keeping an eye on your usage”Your account page shows exactly where you stand against your plan’s limits — something like “2 of 3 separations this month” and “1.2 GB of 25 GB used” — so nothing sneaks up on you. Separation counts reset at the start of each calendar month.
