Stems

Stems are the individual parts a track is built from — the isolated drums, bass, vocals, and other elements. On FreeMix, stems are a first-class part of the platform: you can upload them, license them, sell them, and remix with them.

This section covers the stem-specific features. For the basics of getting stems onto FreeMix, the pages below link out to the relevant guides.

Uploading stems How to upload individual stems or a full stem pack, including file requirements and how stem types are detected.

The Stems license tier What the Stems license permits, how it fits in the license hierarchy, and what buyers can do with stems they obtain.

Uploading a stem pack A step-by-step walkthrough for packaging and publishing a set of stems together.

Automatic stem separation Upload a track and let FreeMix split it into stems for you. Learn which models we use, the quality you can expect, and how monthly separation limits work across plans.

Stems & AI training You can optionally help train FreeMix’s own separation models to support more stem types down the road. Here’s exactly what that means — it’s opt-in, anonymous, and narrow in scope.

All stems on FreeMix are sellable and eligible for the royalty cascade, regardless of how they were created or which plan you’re on. A stem is a stem — whether you uploaded it directly or generated it through automatic separation.
